This is a very rare polished matching pair of fossilized Nautiloid Ammonite halves from Alabama. This Ammonite is from the Ripley formation. It is a type of cephlapod from the Cretaceous age (approximately 85 million years). It swam in the shallow ocean that once covered the state of Alabama. This one contains Quartz crystals within it's fossilized chambers. Approximate size is 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and 1" thick. Two stands are included with the pair.
